Foster Cooperative, an Army of Supporters in Your Hand

Foster Cooperative is a project of Foster Arizona, a non-profit public charity focused on educating, encouraging, and empowering Arizonans to positively impact the lives of kids in foster care.

We understand the challenges associated with parenting in general as well as the additional demands that come with parenting a child who has experienced adversity. Finding community supports and navigating through systems, foster care, behavioral health, court, etc., can be overwhelming. Foster Cooperative's goal is to empower champions of at-risk children with the resources and connections needed to better care for the children in their home in order to decrease disruptions, failed adoptions, and childhood trauma while increasing caregiver well being and overall family health.

Empower parents, Break the Cycle

Foster Cooperative is a scalable, digital community that can help families across Arizona and one day the nation. Our goal is to break down barriers and facilitate community connections with Foster Parents and at-risk birth families through our online community. By empowering and helping to stabilize these families, we can help prevent the entry or re-entry of children into foster care.

Foster Arizona, the Catalyst Behind the Program

Foster Arizona was founded in 2013 by Kimberly Vehon after her family opened their home to become Foster Care parents before adopting her four children. It was through that experience that she learned about the increasing number of youths in need of a safe, loving home. Brave and compassionate, she created the organization to address this urgent problem by connecting kids with families and parents with resources.

At Foster Arizona, we educate, empower and encourage Arizonans to positively impact the lives of kids in foster care. We believe that families who are willing to open their heart and home to a child in need should be empowered to positively impact the life of that child and meet the needs of their family without an unnecessary struggle. Our goal is to make this belief a reality. We accomplish this through our programs that connect children and families. The Foster Cooperative mobile app is an example of our commitment to making it possible to become a loving, caring foster parent.
